Our Clients have asked many questions regarding the delivery of an ICTaaS solution - we've captured and documented as many of those as possible here. How do Pemrose identify and select the hardware to be deployed?
Pemrose research and select best-of-breed hardware and solutions to deliver to our clients. We support all the hardware we supply and won't leave you to speak with the manufacturer directly. What's more, hardware supplied as part of our Cloud Computing (ICTaaS) model will be swapped on-site, new-for-old in the event of failure, and upgraded as part of an agreed technology refresh cycle (typically 12 months to 3 years). Not only that, but you can avoid a massive capital expenditure by leasing your new hardware and reducing its cost to operational expenditure.

Pemrose have partnerships with industry leading hardware manufacturers including Dell, HP, Acer and Asus. Pemrose utilize networking technology from Cisco and Draytek. Speak to our Consultants to achieve the best recommendation matched to your requirement and competitive pricing, sourcing, installation, configuration and training for your new hardware.

How do Pemrose identify and select appropriate software?

Understanding market, licensing, risks and requirements to select appropriate business software. Pemrose adopt an industry standard model for the identifcation and selection of appropriate business software to meet your requirements :-

  • Identify critical success factors - weighted priorities for what the system "must-be-able-to" and "would-be-nice-if-it-could" achieve.
  • Managing risks and understanding budget, platform, infrastructure, cultural and deployment contraints.
  • Modelling business processes on paper and improving or adapting to suit an automated or managed system. If it can't work on paper, it won't work as a computerized system.
  • Getting employee involvement - the insight and low-level understanding of those who will utilize the system is often more valuable than a high-level understanding of the challenge to be solved.
  • Both employees and management must "buy-in" to the concept of the system and approve its role within the organization.
  • Identifying and ratifying vendors who provide solutions to the challenge. Understanding the marketplace they operate in (vertical - specific industry or horizontal - generic solutions).
  • Demonstrations, training and hands-on experience with the solutions available.
  • Assess and compare solutions to identify which most closely meet your critical success factors.
  • Is this a software solution or platform you're buying into? Can it be customised?
  • Understand the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) - how are the licenses charged? Are they perpetual? Purchased in blocks? Can the solution scale easily and affordably with growth? Does it depend on other software solutions that must be purchased (eg database engines)?
  • Negotiate price. It's ALWAYS flexible since there are many vendors to choose from!

Our Consultants can help you manage the change when selecting new software for use in your organization. We have experience with a wide range of vendors and will help to create a management plan or project manage the entire process to ensure successful delivery or an appropriate software solution. Pemrose are primarily Microsoft partners who understand how to adapt and tailor Microsoft solutions to most businesses. However, Pemrose also work with a large number of third party vendors to integrate their solutions into our ICTaaS subscription based model.

One of the key challenges when appointing consultants or software developers is the agreement surrounding ownership of the resulting intellegence. We have various strategies to manage and address these challenges depending on the client's preference and ultimate goal. Pemrose respects IP rights, takes IP protection seriously and adopts and enforces various IP protection methods. These include :-

  • Signing a Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before engaging in discussion.
  • Signing of authorship waiver agreements where appropriate.
  • All documents, code, data and other information is securely protected by our security infrastructure.
  • Each employee, upon being hired, undergoes an introductory course on IPR and signs a contract of employment which includes clauses on IPR protection.

How do Pemrose manage version change and updates?

The Challenge: Deploying software for use in any part of the world, by Managers, Employees and Clients, securely and effectively. Deploying software to a wide target audience poses inherent dangers and potential problems surrounding security and service availability. Pemrose have a broad technical background and experience in delivering web based applications to the masses. Because every software system is unique, the precise processes or procedures within each activity can hardly be defined. Therefore, "deployment" should be interpreted as a general process that has to be customized according to specific requirements or characteristics. Key challenges to a successful deployment in the software deployment lifecycle include :-

  • Production of a "general release" version following development and beta testing.
  • Installation and configuration matching target specific requirements.
  • Activation and deactivation, controlling access, authentication and tracking usage.
  • Identifying and reporting billable end-points with transaction monitoring to prevent mis-billing.
  • Integration with and management of billing platform.
  • Adaptations and scaling for particular environments.
  • Updating and version-tracking of software or components.
  • Uninstallation or retirement of software.

Our Consultants utilise industry recognized processes and methods to ensure a successful deployment of your application, maximizing revenue, managing access and protecting your service from physical threats in the data centre and security threats on the network.
